Infrastructure of the compressor station
Basic parameters and description of the project:
  • compressor station capacity: three compressor units driven by gas turbines with a total capacity of 23 MW.
  • possibility of further expansion to six compressors with a total maximum capacity of 69 MW.
The role of the gas compressor station is to provide gas compression up to the required pressure level in multiple flow directions (western, southern and eastern). It is the first gas compressor station in the Opole Voivodeship.

Project status:
  • engineering phase was completed in August 2017 and concluded with obtaining a building permit decision,
  • the investment was completed in March 2022.

Project location:
The project is located in the Opole Voivodeship, in the Kędzierzyn-Koźle municipality.

Benefits

The compressor station enables gas transmission to the western, southern and eastern regions of Poland bringing additional volumes to these parts of the country, which contribute to improving air quality.

Its location on the route of the North-South Corridor ensures the stable transmission of natural gas, in particular through the new 1000 mm gas pipelines. i.e. the Zdzieszowice - Kędzierzyn and Zdzieszowice - Wrocław pipelines on its western side and the Tworóg - Kędzierzyn and Tworóg - Tworzeń pipelines on the eastern side.

Once completed, the compressor station is one of the elements of the reconstruction of the transmission system, enabling the diversification of natural gas supply sources and integration with the European market.

The municipality will benefit from the local taxes to be paid annually by GAZ-SYSTEM.

Co-financing by the European Union

The European Commission has granted financial support from the Connecting Europe Facility for the preparatory stage of a gas compressor station in Kędzierzyn-Koźle implemented as part of the Poland - Czech Republic interconnection project [Stork II] between Libhošť (CZ) - Hať (CZ-PL) - Kędzierzyn (PL ).

Project of Common Interest (PCI)

The European Commission has granted the PCI (Project of Common Interest) status to the project. More information on the significance of the PCI status for the development of gas transmission infrastructure can be found in the  dedicated section on PCI projects.

While implementing its investment projects GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. respects the rights of all interested stakeholders. We encourage you to send comments and questions concerning the project which has been granted the PCI using the Form for questions and comments concerning the implementation of projects with PCI status by GAZ- SYSTEM.

Administrative decisions

Environmental decision
On 14 July 2016, the Regional Director of Environmental Protection in Opole issued a decision on environmental conditions in respect a project consisting in the construction of the Kędzierzyn gas compressor station, ref.: WOOŚ.4210.3.2016.MSe.8.

Decision on location
On 2 June 2017, the Opole Voivode issued a decision  establishing the location of the investment project associated with the development of the LNG regasification terminal in Świnoujście, consisting in the construction of the gas pipeline between Kędzierzyn-Koźle and the border of the Republic of Poland (Poland - Czech Republic) together with the compressor station and measurement station in Kędzierzyn-Koźle.

Building permit decision
On 11 August 2017, the Opole Voivode issued decision no. 54/D/2017 approving the engineering design and granting the building permit for an investment project associated with the development of the LNG regasification terminal in Świnoujście, titled: “The construction of a gas pipeline from Kędzierzyn-Koźle to the Polish border (Poland-Czech Republic) including a compressor station and metering station  in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Stage 1”.
