The Natural Energy Fund is an innovative grant program that has been organized by GAZ-SYSTEM for fourteen years, under which the company builds lasting relationships with local communities along the routes of its investments.

This year, GAZ-SYSTEM has allocated more than half a million zlotys to subsidize original projects implemented by residents and local organizations, local governments, educational institutions, associations and foundations from the areas covered by the program. These entities had the opportunity to apply for grants of up to PLN 15 thousand. The funds will be used for environmental education and environmental and social integration initiatives.

- This year the program attracted exceptional interest, and the projects submitted were extremely interesting. We are also very pleased with the diversity of entities that applied for grants. We received applications not only from large cities such as Gdansk, Warsaw, Krakow or Rybnik, but also from smaller towns and cities that are well aware of the needs of local communities and want to act together for the benefit of the environment in their surroundings,” - said Iwona Dominiak - GAZ-SYSTEM Spokesperson.

- The Natural Energy Fund promotes the creation of green spaces for joint work, study and rest, as well as forested areas for future generations. Every year we try to diversify the program and enrich it with new elements. In this edition, we have created another, the fourth thematic area, which aims to prepare educational campaigns to increase awareness of environmental issues and community involvement in nature conservation,” - added Iwona Dominiak.

In this edition of the program, support could be obtained for activities in the following categories:

  • "Green labs" creation of places and spaces for environmental education based on experimentation, development of passions, practical activities in green landscaped space and laboratories, and activities using the created lab: infrastructure and equipment.
  • "Dream Garden" adaptation of green spaces for learning about, experiencing and observing nature. These are educational paths, community and school gardens, parks and other areas where sustainable infrastructure is planned to serve people and biodiversity, and activities using these areas to commune with nature.
  • "Trees close to us" development of areas by planting trees and shrubs in cooperation with forest districts and departments in municipalities and cities responsible for planting trees, purchasing seedlings and carrying out plantings.
  • "Educational Campaigns" preparation of information and education activities for environmental protection, involving the local community in helping nature and raising awareness of environmental challenges. Campaigns should be characterized by innovative ideas and methods, a form adapted to the audience, and limit the production of disposable media such as leaflets, stickers.

This year's edition of the Natural Energy Fund grant program was announced by GAZ-SYSTEM in 31 counties and 26 cities across the country. The most popular projects were submitted in the “Dream Garden” category, which received 92 applications. Also of great interest were the topics: “Educational campaigns” (40 applications) and ‘Green studios’ (34 applications).

This year's edition was held under the honorary patronage of the Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The social partner of the Natural Energy Fund is the “Za górami za lasami” Foundation.

Academy for grantees
On December 7, 2023, we organized the first online "Academy for grantees" for our awardees and participants in the Natural Energy Fund program. It took the form of a workshop, during which guests were given access to the knowledge base of current environmental challenges and were inspired by the presenters to take further action on the environment. As part of the virtual conference, experts from the "Behind the Mountains, Behind the Forests" Foundation, which is our community partner in organizing the FNE, led two workshops:
  • How to plan and create interesting environmental projects?
  • Where to look for inspiration for local actions for nature?
Thank you for so much participation in this year's 13th edition of the Natural Energy Fund.
