Hydrogen market development
Hydrogen Map of Poland
The analysis of the present and future hydrogen transport infrastructure for industrial users - both necessary and feasible - required the preparation of an action plan and the development of solutions reflecting the current state of knowledge of potential hydrogen generators and consumers. Therefore, GAZ-SYSTEM launched the ‘Hydrogen Map of Poland’ project. This non-binding market screening procedure is designed to assess the interest in connecting to hydrogen transmission network and the status of projects involving the production or use of hydrogen as part of business decarbonisation processes. The Hydrogen Map of Poland will be updated periodically.
The surveys under the Hydrogen Map of Poland lasted from 18 April to 30 June 2024. In total, the Company received 63 questionnaires covering almost 200 projects from all hydrogen market areas surveyed (production, consumption, distribution and storage). In addition, during the market screening process, two webinars were held; they were attended by over 200 market participants, representing a variety of industries and consequently - a variety of hydrogen needs. During the webinars, and in the course of a regular dialogue with the Hydrogen Map of Poland project participants, the assumptions and objectives of the project were identified, as well as the Company's plans related to the development of a hydrogen network in Poland were presented.
The involvement of all entities related to decarbonisation of the Polish economy in the HMP project will have a significant impact on the energy transition process in Poland. The results of the market screening will form the basis for preliminary planning of the hydrogen transmission and storage infrastructure, including interconnectors and international projects in which Poland participates.
At present, the data verification and analysis are underway; the results will serve as a basis for delineation of the national hydrogen transmission network in Poland. It will be subject to further review aimed at developing a national hydrogen transmission system development plan.
