Benefits

The investment has enabled full capacity utilisation in the Underground Gas Storage in Strachocina, as well as the interoperability of the national transmission system with the new Poland-Slovakia interconnection. The project is a vital link in the integration of the Polish and Slovak transmission systems, and also of the Polish and Ukrainian ones, especially in the context of the planned construction of a new gas pipeline between Poland and Ukraine. The Hermanowice-Strachocina gas pipeline is also an important component of the North-South Gas Corridor.

The investment ensures:
  • improved energy security of Poland
  • increased system capacity for transmission in the western direction
  • shortened gas transport route
  • reduction of gas transmission costs
Local communities have gained an important benefit of the revenue from the property tax to be paid annually by GAZ-SYSTEM at the rate of 2% of the value of the transmission infrastructure to be located in the territory of each municipality. This amount is a regular contribution to the local budget which may be spent on community needs.
