Benefits

The role of the new Goleniów gas compressor station is provide incremental capacity of the transmission system by pumping additional volumes of gas from the Baltic Pipe offshore pipeline. It will strengthen Poland’s energy security and be a crucial link of the North-South Gas Corridor.

The municipality where the compressor station was upgraded will benefit significantly from the taxes to be paid annually by GAZ-SYSTEM.

EU co-financing

The investment is co-financed by the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

Project of Common Interest (PCI)

The European Commission has granted the PCI (Project of Common Interest) status to the project. More information on the significance of the PCI status for the development of gas transmission infrastructure can be found in the  dedicated section on PCI projects.

On June 26, 2019, the Governor of Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship issued a location decision for the expansion of the Gas Compressor station in Goleniów. It is one of three such facilities on the Polish side of the Baltic Pipe project – the others being the Compressor Station in Odolanów, currently undergoing expansion, and the compressor station in Gustorzyn, which is a greenfield project.

The decision covers the implementation of the following investments:
  • expansion of the Goleniów Compressor Station
  • construction of a pig launcher/receiver station together with the necessary infrastructure for the DN1000 gas pipeline between Goleniów and Lwówek,
  • construction of a pig launcher/receiver station together with the necessary infrastructure for the DN 1000 gas pipeline between the Płoty System Point and the Goleniów compressor station.
Building permit
On January 28, 2020, the Governor of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship issued a building permit for a terminal-related investment project comprising the expansion of the Goleniów Gas Compressor Station.
