Connection of the PGE Gryfino 2050 Power Plant
Basic parameters and description of the project:
Project status:
Project route and location:
The gas pipeline will be located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Its route will cross the municipalities of: Przelewice, Pyrzyce, Kozielice, Banie, Gryfino, Widuchowa, Bielice
- high pressure gas pipeline,
- diameter: 700 mm,
- operating pressure: 8.4 MPa,
- gas distribution station with a capacity of 250,000 m3/h
- length of approx. 63 km including the tie-in to the block valve stations of the existing gas pipeline DN 700 MOP 8.4 MPa Szczecin – Lwówek and the planned gas pipeline DN 1000 MOP 8.4 MPa Goleniów – Lwówek in the village of Przywodzie.
Project status:
- Q3/ Q4 2022 - commencement of construction works,
- Q3/ Q4 2023 - completion of construction works,
- Q4 2023 - commissioning of two new units at PGE Gryfino 2050 Power Plant.

The project is being implemented in the performance of the transmission network connection agreement, which, indirectly, will contribute to the capacity increase in the operator's transmission system, thereby creating conditions for the development of a competitive natural gas market in Poland, and of companies operating in this sector.
The development of modern generating units in PGE Gryfino 2050 Power Plant supplying power to the National Power System will significantly contribute to the achievement of the EU climate objectives and is in line with the global trends in the power industry oriented on the construction of low-emission generation units while supporting the strategic directions of the PGE Group.
The gas-fired development will ensure the replacement of the generation capacity of the PGE Gryfino 2050 Power Plant, including the already decommissioned two coal-fired power units 3 and 4, and the expected decommissioning of units 1 and 2.
The municipalities will gain an important benefit of the revenue from the property tax to be paid annually by GAZ-SYSTEM at the rate of 2% of the value of the pipeline section located in their territory. The owners of the properties to be crossed by the gas pipeline will receive compensation in this respect and will still be able to use their land.

The project is implemented on the basis of the provisions of the Act of 24 April 2009 on investments in regasification terminal for liquefied natural gas in Świnoujście (for consolidated text see Journal of Laws of 2021, item 1836).
Environmental decision
On December 31, 2020, the Regional Director of Environmental Protection in Szczecin issued a decision on environmental conditions for the project executed by GAZ-SYSTEM named “Connection of the Dolna Odra Power Plant to the transmission network”.

Decision establishing the location
On 23 April, 2021 the Zachodniopomorski Voivode issued a decision establishing the location for the Project named “Connection of the Dolna Odra Power Plant to the transmission network”.
Building Permit
On 12 August, 2021, Zachodniopomorski Voivode issued two decisions on the construction permit for a tie-in pipeline supplying gas to two gas and steam units with a total capacity of 1340 MW, which are currently under construction at the Dolna Odra Power Plant.

Under a special act regulating gas infrastructure projects, compensation payments are guaranteed to the owners of the land affected by the project development.
The compensation payment process is carried out in accordance with an administrative procedure, under the supervision of the competent Voivode. First, an independent expert is commissioned to carry out an assessment, which is the basis for determining the amount of compensation. Upon completion of the construction process, the Voivode issues an administrative decision specifying the amount of compensation due.
For more information about the compensation payments and construction process see the section For Landowners.
