Gas measuring equipment

The Materials Testing Laboratory is the second accredited testing laboratory, next to the Gas Quality Measurement Laboratory, operating within the GAZ-SYSTEM’s organisation. It is located in Pogórska Wola near Tarnów.

The Materials Testing Laboratory ensures that reliable, credible and useful test results are provided while ensuring that the confidentiality of information and proprietary rights of its clients are fully protected. Our personnel is certified to both Level 2 and Level 3 in accordance with PN-EN ISO 9712 for the respective non-destructive testing methods.

Services

The principal services of the Materials Testing Laboratory are:
  • Visual testing;
  • Magnetic particle testing;
  • Penetrant testing;
  • Ultrasonic testing;
  • Radiographic testing;
  • Ultrasonic wall thickness measurement;
  • Evaluation/verification of x-ray films of welded joints.
Additional services of the Materials Testing Laboratory include:
  • Analysis of the chemical composition of steel using a spark spectrometer;
  • Verification of test protocols/reports for compliance with applicable standards/guidelines;
  • Technical advice on non-destructive and destructive testing (applicability, limitations and use of testing methods)

Accreditation

The Laboratory is accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation for compliance with international and European standards PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018-02 as a Research Laboratory – Accreditation Certificate No. AB 1767.

The scope of the accreditation covers non-destructive testing, including in particular the testing of welded joints, with such methods as VT, PT, UT. The Laboratory has been accredited by the PCA since November 2020.

The Accreditation is a formal recognition of the competence and therefore provides customers with a means of identifying and selecting reliable services that meet their needs.

UDT recognition

The laboratory is recognised by the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT) according to WUDT-LAB - Certificate of Recognition of the Laboratory.

Recognition of the laboratory by UDT is a confirmation of meeting the requirements set out in the Act on Technical Supervision for units performing non-destructive testing of pressure equipment subject to technical supervision.

Recognition is a formal confirmation of competence and therefore provides customers with a ready means of identifying and selecting reliable services that meet their needs.

Equipment

The Materials Testing Laboratory carries out research both at the laboratory site and in the field. It is the policy of the Materials Testing Laboratory to have its measuring equipment calibrated by accredited calibration laboratories or the Central Office of Measures to ensure the reliability and repeatability of test results.

Apparatus:
  • Olympus OmniScan SX ultrasonic flaw detector for both conventional UT and TOFD inspection.
  • Kowolux X3 radiographic film viewer for evaluation of high-density x-ray films (D > 4).
  • Detection media for penetrant and magnetic particle testing from recognised manufacturers (Magnafluex, Helling).
  • Magnetic particle tests carried out with the use of yoke electromagnets and permanent. magnets.
  • Checks on the chemical composition of steel using a Spectroport mobile spark spectrometer with an effective wavelength range of 270 – 530nm.
  • BALTEAU BALTOSPOT LLX200 X-ray tube.
  • COMPACT 2 automatic imager.
