Decision on the building permit for the gas pipeline on the Szczecin-Lwówek route, on the Gorzów Wielkopolski-Lwówek section
On 21 February 2012, pursuant to the authorisation of the Lubusz Voivode, a building permit decision was granted for the high-pressure gas pipeline on the Szczecin-Lwówek route along with accompanying infrastructure in the territory of the Lubusz Voivodship, stage 1 of the investment on the Szczecin-Gorzów Wielkopolski section (37.3 km in length) and stage 2 of the investment on the Gorzów Wielkopolski-Lwówek section (50.3 km in length). The total gas pipeline length in the territory of the Lubusz Voivodship amounts to 87.6 km.
The decisions concern the following Poviats: Strzelce-Dresden, Gorzów and Międzyrzecz.
On 3 February 2012, the Western Pomeranian Voivode, Marcin Zydorowicz, issued the building permit decision for the gas pipeline on the Szczecin-Lwówek route in the territory of the Western Pomeranian Voivodship, stage 1 of the Investment on the Szczecin-Gorzów Wielkopolski section (80.4 km in length) along with the system of in/out gas locks in the territory of the Goleniów Gas Compressor Station.
The Szczecin-Lwówek gas pipeline, which is 188.3 km in length, is located in the territory of the Western Pomeranian Voivodship, the Lubusz Voivodship and the Greater Poland Voivodship. The gas pipeline will partly run along the existing high-pressure gas pipeline on the Goleniów-Lwówek route. Construction of the gas pipeline has been divided into two stages: Szczecin – Gorzów Wielkopolski, and Gorzów Wielkopolski – Lwówek. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. has already obtained the environmental approval and the location decisions for this gas pipeline.
The estimated value of this investment is 647.02 mln PLN, whereas the amount awarded under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2007-2013 amounts to 159.26 mln PLN. The following gas pipelines will also be co-financed from the funds of this Programme: the Gustorzyn-Odolanów gas pipeline (175.45 mln PLN), the Szczecin-Gdańsk gas pipeline (226.88 mln PLN), the Włocławek–Gdynia gas pipeline (21.47 mln PLN), the Jeleniów-Dziwiszów gas pipeline (43.90 mln PLN), the Polkowice-Żary gas pipeline (25.59 mln PLN), and the Rembelszczyzna-Gustorzyn gas pipeline (121.55 mln PLN).
The expected date of completion of the investment is February 2014.

The Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is a strategic Polish Company responsible for natural gas transmissions throughout Poland. The Company manages assets worth approx. 5 bn PLN, comprised of elements of the transmission system, e.g. more than 9.7 thousand km of high pressure pipelines, 15 compressor stations, 56 hubs and 970 exit points. Company, which was established to construct the liquefied natural gas terminal (LNG) terminal in Świnoujście.
GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is planning to construct approx. 1,000 km of new gas pipelines by 2014. The most important will be in northwestern and central Poland (Szczecin–Lwówek, Świnoujście–Szczecin, Szczecin–Gdańsk, Rembelszczyzna–Gustorzyn and Gustorzyn-Odolanów). The development of the gas transmission network in Poland may constitute an important element of the North - South Gas Corridor connecting the LNG terminal in Świnoujście with the planned Adria LNG terminal with the aid of the transmission infrastructure of Central European countries.
In 2011, GAZ–SYSTEM S.A. completed the construction of the Włocławek–Gdynia gas pipeline and the gas compressor station in Goleniów and in Jarosław. The Company has also started up the new Polish-Czech connection enabling the transmission of approx. 0.5 bcm of gas annually. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. has also developed the gas pipelines in Lower Silesia to enable the off-take of increased volumes of gas from the western direction. The capacity at the Lasów point on the Polish-German border currently amounts to 1.5 bcm annually (its earlier capacity amounted to 0.9 bcm annually).
Investments fulfilled by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. in 2011 with their possibility of using virtual reverse flow services on the Yamal pipeline have created the technical possibilities to import over 3.3 bcm of gas annually to Poland from new sources (approx. 30% of the currently performed import).
