Construction of a gas compressor station in Goleniów has started – an element of the transmission system to transport gas from the LNG terminal in Świnoujście.
In mid August 2009 construction works started on the Goleniów Gas Compressor Station to transport gas from the LNG terminal in Świnoujście. This will be the fifteenth compressor station in the transmission system managed by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.Construction of the Goleniów Gas Compressor Station is an element of the long-term investment plan implemented by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. The facility will play an important role of a transmission hub in the existing and designed transmission system of natural gas in Poland. The compressor station will support transport of gas from the LNG terminal in Świnoujście and transmission of increased quantities of gas in the northern-western Poland. In this area, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. also plans to build new transmission pipelines, such as Świnoujście-Szczecin, Szczecin-Gdańsk, Szczecin-Lwówek, Rembelszczyzna-Odolanów and Włocławek-Gdynia. The Goleniów project will considerably improve security of gas transmission and foster development of economic entities which need natural gas for the operations, in particular in the area of the Goleniów Industrial Park. Before the construction site was delivered to the general contractor, building permits had been acquired for project elements, such as the compressor station, gas network, electrical power connection, telecommunication connection and access road. Geodesic works were also carried out to set out the compressor station buildings and the construction area. At present, the construction site has been delivered to the general contractor, who has already signed an agreement for generator delivery. The Goleniów Gas Compressor Station is bound for completion in Q4 2010. A gas compressor station is a set of devices used for compressing, adjusting and measuring the flow rate of the natural gas.
