Almost 121 mln PLN from European Union funds allocated to the next investment project of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.

The Company signed a contract with the Oil and Gas Institute (institute implementing agreements for funding of the "Rembelszczyzna-Gustorzyn pipeline" project within the 2007-2013 Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment) on 15th December 2010.
"Construction of the Rembelszczyzna-Gustorzyn pipeline is a significant strategic element of the development of the entire national transmission system devised by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. Having the plan of building over 1,000 km of gas transmission pipelines before me, I consider the competent use of EU aid, particularly by a company that is of such importance for the Polish economy as GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., as a very promising signal" – Aleksander Grad, Minister of the State Treasury commented.
"The use of EU funds in the energy sector has clearly accelerated over the last few months. Including the co-financing agreement signed today, the total value of EU aid awarded already amounts to over 2 bn PLN, i.e. 30 % of the funds allocated to energy in the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment. This means that investments in the energy sector have equalled the remaining sectors in the Programme" - Adam Zdziebło, Vice-Minister of Regional Development remarked.
"The regionalisation of the GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. investment project will enable improved security of natural gas transmission on the Włocławek – Rembelszczyzna route. This is also in line with the premises of the Ministry of Economy entailed in the Polish Energy Policy up to 2030, including the expansion of the natural gas transmission and distribution systems" – Rafał Baniak, Vice-Minister of the Economy stated.
"In 2009 and 2010, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. obtained funding from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment amounting to almost 650 mln PLN for the construction of strategic transmission pipelines throughout Poland. "The total value of the funding of our investments within several EU programmes has reached almost 2 bn PLN, with investment outlays on the level of 8 bn PLN. The co-funding awarded by the European Union for our projects will facilitate the effective fulfilment of investments that will improve gas transmission security in Poland and create new possibilities of developing cross-border gas connections in our part of Europe.” – Jan Chadam, President of the Management Board of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A, explained.
The Rembelszczyzna-Gustorzyn pipeline 176 km in length will be located in the Mazovian and Kujavian-Pomeranian Voivodships. The performance of the investment is a significant element strengthening the security of gas supplies in Poland and creates the technical infrastructure necessary to transport gas from new directions.
The object of the concluded agreement with the Oil and Gas Institute is obtaining funding from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment for the construction of the Rembelszczyzna-Gustorzyn pipeline amounting to 121.55 mln PLN. The company expects the value of the co-funding allocated to this project to increase. The expected net value of the entire investment amounts to 628.8 mln PLN.
At present, the design documentation is being prepared for the Rembelszczyzna–Gustorzyn pipeline. The date of completion of the civil engineering design along with obtaining the building permit is expected in April 2011. The date of completion of the construction of the gas pipeline is planned for 2014.
Large infrastructural investments in the field of environmental protection, transport, energy, culture and national heritage, as well as health protection and higher education are realised within the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2007-2013 (OPIE). The Programme funds have already co-financed the following pipelines: Włocławek–Gdynia (31 mln PLN), Jeleniów-Dziwiszów (65.1 mln PLN), Szczecin-Gdańsk (226.9 mln PLN), Gustorzyn-Odolanów (175.5 mln PLN) and Polkowice-Żary (25.6 mln PLN).
Apart from that, the Szczecin-Lwówek pipeline is still foreseen on the primary list of investments of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. planned for additional funding. The planned amount of co-financing for the investments of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. stipulated on the list of primary investments of OPIE amounts to approx. 800 mln PLN. The following gas pipelines are also included on the reserve list: Strachocina–Pogórska Wola, Hermanowice–Strachocina, Zdzieszowice–Wrocław, and Skoczów–Komorowice–Oświęcim.
