Improvement and modernisation works on gas metering station in Hermanowice near the Polish-Ukrainian border

GAZ-SYSTEM decided to perform improvement and modernisation works on gas metering station in Hermanowice. The decision stems from the ongoing technical dialogue with the Ukrainian TSO - Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine - concerning the operation of the GCP GAZ-SYSTEM/UA TSO interconnection.
The project comprises the modernisation of the gas facility in Hermanowice and the increase of its metering and billing capabilities to enable the optimal release of available capacities of the Polish transmission system in the market.
Upon completion of the modernisation project, the infrastructure will provide greater transmission capacity towards Ukraine. The available capacity will be assessed on an ongoing basis, and the offer will depend on supply directions, the utilisation of other export routes, the demand reported by customers in the southern and south-east regions of Poland, particularly in the power sector, and the operation of underground gas storage facilities.
The operators’ dialogue continues; the parties have already agreed on the scope of the necessary modernisation of the metering station and the relocation of the metering process from the metering station in Drozdovychi to the interconnection point in Hermanowice. The works are expected to be completed at the turn of 2025/2026.
More details regarding the project completion date, the capacity offered after the modernisation and other important issues will be published in due course.
For many years now, GAZ-SYSTEM has been committed to diversifying gas supplies to the neighbouring countries and focusing its efforts on optimising the use of the national transmission network, including gas supplies to Ukraine by means of the Polish transmission system.
Such initiatives are only possible owing to the systematic and consistent implementation of the investment program aimed at bolstering energy security both in Poland and in the region. The present technical and commercial conditions support the sustained stability of the system's operation, as well as strengthen the company's role in cross-border gas transmission.
