GAZ-SYSTEM warns against financial scams impersonating the company
GAZ-SYSTEM warns against telemarketers impersonating the company and fake publications on the Internet! These are attempts to extort money or personal information. Fraudsters are illegally using the logo and investment projects of our company, including the Baltic Pipe project. Let's remember that GAZ-SYSTEM does not conduct any solicitation of investments for the company.
Fake advertisements guaranteeing allegedly high and certain profits, and referring to GAZ-SYSTEM investment projects, are constantly appearing in electronic media. False ads appear, among others, on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, in Google searches, in mailings, or, most importantly, in online advertisements. They are often followed by text messages and phone calls impersonating GAZ-SYSTEM employees.
How to recognize an Internet scam?
- Beware of photos illegally using the image of public officials! The GAZ-SYSTEM logo is often altered, deceptively similar to the company's logo. These tricks are used in profiles (including as profile pictures), post graphics or in advertisements).
- Keep an eye out for suspicious profile names from which posts originate.
- The texts of the posts have encouraging overtones for investment and quick profit. They contain false information about alleged GAZ-SYSTEM investments. They may also contain language and punctuation errors.
- False advertisements and posts contain information about a time-limited offer guaranteeing an unusually high profit in a short period of time. E.g. "Only today deposit one thousand zlotys, tomorrow receive two thousand zlotys."
- Often scammers cite the closed nature of the offer and the reluctance of the company or government institution to share investment profits with citizens.
- The graphics included in the posts are also often photomontages, which GAZ-SYSTEM does not use in its external communications. Images of well-known people are used: politicians, athletes, showbiz figures or board members of state-owned companies.
- The graphics may feature different colors of text that are not associated with GAZ-SYSTEM's corporate identity.
- Posts lead to pages that are in no way related to GAZ-SYSTEM or the company's projects including Baltic Pipe.
- There may be a large number of negative reactions and a small number of comments under posts that contain false information. It is also common for comments under posts to come from untrue social media profiles.
Scammers operate on the basis of the same schemes. After clicking on an ad, the user is redirected to a fake company or project website. An offer to register then pops up. This involves entering one's basic information, including a phone number, email address, and possibly a residential address. In order for the registration to be completed, the potential investor has to wait until he is called back by an "advisor/consultant introducing himself over the phone as a representative of the GAZ-SYSTEM company." He or she will urge the customer to install a program that allows remote control of the computer desktop. This allows the scammers to steal money from the bank account when the customer logs into their bank account. Alternatively, the "consultant" asks to quickly transfer the money to the account number indicated in the e-mail or SMS. Often this procedure also ends with the phishing of a PESEL number, for which a loan or credit is then tricked!
In many cases, scammers send fake documents such as a certificate of an "advisor/consultant", an investment agreement and scans of information from the GAZ-SYSTEM website with a description of the investment, and additionally indicate for e-mail contact twisted names of people with an added e-mail domain of our company. CAUTION - these are fake documents - do not fill them out or sign them.
We remind you! Do not be fooled! Before you hand over your personal data, contact any bank personally to see if such investment products are offered on the real capital market!
GAZ-SYSTEM does not conduct any solicitation to invest for the company. Fake advertisements mostly encourage people to invest funds. They also unjustifiably use the name and trademarks of state and EU institutions and make unlawful use of GAZ-SYSTEM's promotional materials, impersonating the company's activities.
We appeal for caution and ask you not to open links and advertisements with suspicious web addresses. All real information about GAZ-SYSTEM's activities can be found on our official company website. In addition, we would like to inform you that we are taking strong legal steps against cyber criminals on an ongoing basis.
At the same time, we would like to inform you that victims who have fallen victim to a crime should consider immediately filing a notification about the possibility of committing a crime at the nearest police unit
or the appropriate Prosecutor's Office unit.
