Andrzej Kensbok, Vice-President of GAZ-SYSTEM Management Board appointed to the Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) Board

On 15 June, the GIE General Assembly unanimously approved the appointment of Vice-President Andrzej Kensbok to the position of the Gas Infrastructure Europe Board Member - the organisation representing European gas infrastructure operators in Brussels.

In connection with the ongoing works on the hydrogen and gas markets decarbonisation package, as well as discussions on the role of natural gas in the energy transition process in the European Union economy, a number of decisions - including those concerning the organisation's governing bodies - have been taken by the Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) General Assembly at the meeting held in Riga. The candidacy of Vice President Andrzej Kensbok within the GLE Executive Committee representing LNG terminals in the EU was proposed to the GIE Board and approved by the GIE General Assembly.

As part of his mission, the representative of GAZ-SYSTEM Management Board will be responsible for strengthening the role of LNG and natural gas as key elements of the ongoing decarbonisation process in the EU, in addition to supporting the process of clean energy revolution based on low-carbon and zero-emission gases.

GAZ-SYSTEM has been actively involved in international activities for over a decade, and is strongly engaged in shaping the regional gas transmission market also within various international industry organisations. The company is a major partner in the ongoing EU dialogue on energy transition, further strengthening of security of gas supply in the region, and decarbonisation of the economy also by means of low-carbon and zero-emission gases.

Gas Infrastructure Europe 
GAZ-SYSTEM has been a member of GIE since the establishment of the organisation in 2005. Company employees participate in the works of all GIE groups and thematic areas. GAZ-SYSTEM is an active member of the Executive Committee (ExCom) of the Gas Transmission Europe (GTE) column and the Gas LNG Europe (GLE) column. The company representative also serves as a co-chair of the Strategy Task Force for the entire GIE, and the Fit for 55 & Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market Package working group.
