Baltic Pipe has reached its maximum capacity
On 30th of November, the offshore gas pipeline has reached its target transmission capacity of up to 10 bcma towards Poland. Energinet, the Danish Transmission System Operator, has completed the process of connecting the compressor station located on Zealand to the Baltic Pipe infrastructure.
"Baltic Pipe has reached its maximum capacity today. With this infrastructure, we can supply Poland with as much as 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas and this volume covers over 60% of our annual domestic demand for this fuel. Since January, we have also increased the capacity of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście. Moreover, we have opened gas interconnectors with Lithuania and Slovakia. We can now say with confidence that the task of ensuring Poland's energy security, which had been set for GAZ-SYSTEM, has been accomplished." – said Tomasz Stępień, President of GAZ-SYSTEM.
Gas transmission via Baltic Pipe started on 1st October 2022, but its capacity has been limited until the completion of all construction work by the Danish partner. The Baltic Pipe pipelines and compressor station in Denmark have now reached their target parameters and can transport 10 bcma of gas to Poland.
