GAZ SYSTEM: Installation of the roof on the new LNG tank at the Świnoujscie LNG Terminal completed
GAZ-SYSTEM has completed another important stage in the expansion of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście; concrete walls of the third LNG tank under construction were covered with a steel roof weighing over 1,000 tonnes.
In addition to the third tank, a new jetty is also being constructed as part of the second phase of the LNG Terminal expansion program, to enable mooring, berthing, loading and unloading of smaller LNG carriers. It will also be used for the purposes of the so-called transshipment, i.e. transshipment of LNG between vessels and also bunkering of small vessels (e.g. tugboats) using LNG as fuel.
Additional information
The main objective of the LNG Terminal expansion program is to increase fuel import capability, offer new services (bunkering, transshipment of LNG onto the so-called smaller-scale carriers), and increase the flexibility of the plant's operations.
The expansion program was divided into two phases. The first phase related to increasing regasification capacity to 6.2 bcm per year was completed in early 2022.
Completion of the second phase of the expansion program involving the construction of the third tank and the second jetty is scheduled at the end of 2023. Once completed, the technical capacity of the LNG Terminal will increase to 8.3 bcm per year.
Polish LNG Terminal expansion project is included in the European list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI). The expansion of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście was granted funding from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020, PRIORITY: VII, ACTION: 7.1 as part of the project under the name: "Extension of the functionality of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście".
