Extension Permission Granted for the Baltic Pipe’s First Gas Compressor Station
• 2nd stage of the investment includes the extension of the 5MW compressor unit.
The investment area is located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, the Goleniów municipality.– The Goleniów gas compressor station is, in addition to the investments in Odolanów and Gustorzyn, a vital element of the investment programme of the onshore part of the Baltic Pipe. The expansion and construction of these three gas compressor stations will allow for efficient distribution of increased volumes of gas, which will be delivered to Poland after 2022. In the first quarter of this year, we expect decisions concerning the remaining two compressor stations” said Tomasz Stępień, President of the Management Board of GAZ-SYSTEM.The decision issued by the West Pomeranian Voivode to permit the extension of the gas compressor station in Goleniów is immediately enforceable. Due to the strategic importance of the investment, this task is carried out based on the Special Purpose Gas Act.
The investment is a part of the Baltic Pipe project aimed at creating a new gas supply corridor in the European market. The project consists of 5 components. One of them is the extension and modernisation of the Polish natural gas transmission system. It includes connection of the offshore gas pipeline with the existing system, construction or modernisation of 3 gas compressor stations (Goleniów, Odolanów, and Gustorzyn), and development of the Niechorze-Płoty and Goleniów-Lwówek gas pipelines.
